NS-1 Quality and Inspection Requirements for New and Refurbished Drilling and Completion Equipment
In January 2000, Fearnley Procter UK signed a license agreement with Shell UK Exploration and Production for the exclusive rights to the SQAIR System which has been used in the drilling industry by Shell and other Operating Companies for the last 15 years.
The standard has now been technically updated and re-released in 2002 by Fearnley Procter UK as NS-1.

The purpose of the NS-1 system is to provide users with uniform and cost effective quality and inspection specifications for selected "NEW" and Refurbished Drilling and Well Completion equipment. The NS-1 specifications address the minimum required level of conformance verification.
NS-1 is based on existing industry standards and practices combined with operator experience. They are only written when no appropriate quality requirements exist in these standards.
